  • Dress Comfortably — Wear comfortable, breathable clothing and closed-toed shoes. Horseback riding companies usually recommend long pants, like denim jeans.
  • Wear Sun Protection — Lather on sunscreen and bring a hat and sunglasses to protect your skin from the sun. Applying insect repellant is also a good idea, especially for beach rides.
  • Stay Hydrated — Bring a water bottle, though many tours include one in the cost.
  • Read Requirements—Many horseback riding companies have maximum and minimum weight requirements. Some also do not allow pregnant women and people with mobility restrictions to participate, so call the tour provider or read on the website to ensure the tour is a good fit for you.
  • Arrange Transportation — Several horseback riding tours offer round-trip transportation to and from your hotel in Cabo San Lucas or San Jose del Cabo, so be sure to arrange transportation with the company before the tour day to ensure a smooth pickup.
