If you are planning a family vacation to Cabo San Lucas with kids — you are in for a treat! Los Cabos may be popularly known as a romantic destination for couples, but there are tons of exciting activities for kids and adults alike to enjoy in Cabo San Lucas.

Fun Things to Do in Cabo San Lucas & San Jose del Cabo with Kids

Before visiting Los Cabos with kids, read this list of the most fun things to do in Cabo San Lucas with family to ensure the entire family has a great time!

1. Whale Watching with Cabo Expeditions

If you are in Cabo from December 15th – April 15th, you can’t miss the chance to go on a whale-watching tour with Cabo Expeditions.

On the boat ride to Land’s End, you will have the chance to see humpback whales spending their winter in the warm waters of Mexico. Then, when you arrive at Land’s End, you can spend a half-hour snorkeling with marine wildlife and sea turtles and see the resident sea lions at Pelican Rock.

2. Cabo Pulmo National Park

Cabo Pulmo National Marine Park is about a two-hour drive from Cabo San Lucas. However, it is one of the best places for snorkeling in Baja California Sur, making it worth a stop with the whole family while visiting Los Cabos.

At the park, you will find the Cabo Pulmo Sports Center, where you can join a kid-friendly two-hour snorkeling tour. The tour includes your snorkeling gear, a boat with a captain, a guide to the park, and a snack and water. Since this snorkeling tour is shorter, it is an excellent option for kids with limited snorkeling experience who still want to see sea creatures during their trip to Mexico.

3. Wild Canyon Adventure Park

Wild Canyon Adventure Park is a family-friendly amusement park between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. There are tons of extreme activities to enjoy for older kids — from ziplining and bungee jumping to camel rides and ATV rides.

If you have younger children, there are plenty of family-friendly activities for them to enjoy at Wild Canyon Adventures too. For example, they can visit the animal sanctuary to see rescued turtles, birds, iguanas, camels, and other fantastic creatures at the park.

4. Spend a Day at the Beach

If you have younger kids and are looking for something more low-key and relaxing than an adventurous excursion, you will love exploring the secluded beaches in Cabo.

Lover’s Beach is the most popular beach in Cabo San Lucas and is a common stop on tours to El Arco — Cabo’s most famous landmark. However, El Medano Beach and the Cannery Beaches are often more accessible and kid-friendly than the former option.

5. Cuadra San Francisco

Cuadra San Francisco is the only professional equestrian center in the Los Cabos area. It is located between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo and is one of the best places for private trail rides, riding lessons, and more!

You can choose a one-hour or two-hour horseback riding experience at Cuadra San Francisco. The one-hour ride takes you through the hills of Vernado Blanco or along the beach in Cabo Real, whereas the two-hour ride includes either a mix of the hills and the beach or a canyon ride in Arroyo San Carlos.

6. Surfing Lessons at Cerritos Beach

Cerritos Beach is located south of Todos Santos along the Pacific Ocean and just under a one-hour drive from Cabo San Lucas. It is one of the best destinations on the Baja California Peninsula for surfing, so it is worth taking a day trip here when visiting Cabo San Lucas!

There are plenty of places to rent surfboards at Cerritos Beach if your family already has surfing experience. However, if this will be your family’s first time surfing, you can purchase surf lessons with an experienced instructor to gain some confidence before “shredding the gnar” on your own.

7. Swim with Marine Life

If your kids are ocean explorers, they will love swimming with marine animals — like dolphins and whale sharks — during their time in Los Cabos.

Cabo Adventures is a popular tour agency in Cabo San Lucas that offers snorkeling tours, swimming experiences, and other encounters with these majestic creatures. Most tours depart from downtown and are easy to reach from your hotel or vacation rental.

8. Explore Downtown Cabo San Lucas

There are plenty of fun activities and outdoor adventures in Cabo San Lucas. Still, one of the most kid-friendly things to do during your vacation is explore the various shops, restaurants, and sights in Downtown Cabo!

Your family can enjoy a delicious meal at one of the best Mexican restaurants in Cabo, spend some time shopping at popular shopping malls like Plaza Puerto Paraiso, or walk around down by the marina.
