Pelagic hosts several fishing tournaments in countries across Central America and North America, including Costa Rica, California, and Mexico. The Pelagic Triple Crown of Fishing is the event hosted in Cabo San Lucas and focuses on catching Striped Marlin, Dorado, Sailfish, Spearfish, Wahoo, and Yellowfin Tuna.

29 teams and 139 anglers participated in June 2025 for a total of 42 catches, with the top catches being Striped Marlin and Tuna. The total payout for the event was $325,600. 2. Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament

Bisbee hosts some of the most sought-after sport fishing events in Los Cabos. The first, Bisbee’s East Cape Offshore Tournament, is one of the most well-known events on the East Cape. It’s considered the world’s “richest” fishing tournament, with potential for more than a million dollars in payouts. In 2024, the total payout was $1,674,675 for 79 teams.

Teams must spend at least $1,500 to enter this event, and prize money is given to those who catch the most Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Tuna, and Dorado. 3. Los Cabos Billfish Tournament

The Los Cabos Billfish Tournament is one of the world’s most popular marlin fishing tournaments. As the name suggests, this tournament awards hefty cash prizes for billfish, like Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, and Sailfish, but also offers prizes for Dorado, Wahoo, and Tuna. This tournament is organized by the same team of professionals that host other prestigious billfish fishing tournaments, like the Costa Rica Offshore World Championship in and Bermuda Triple Crown.

Teams must pay $5,000 to enter the competition, and prizes are split between the first, second, and third-place winners from the prize pool. Last year, more than $767,070in cash was awarded, so the potential payout is significant. This year, registration is on October 8th, the fishing competition lasts from October 9th – 11th, and the awards banquet takes place on October 12th.

4. Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament

Bisbee’s Los Cabos Offshore Tournament is another one of the most sought-after sport fishing events in Cabo San Lucas — especially because this event offers more affordable entry fees. However, in 2024, the cash prizes totaled $2,715,450 and are awarded to the top three teams based on the single heaviest Black or Blue Marlin (billfish) and Tuna or Dorado (gamefish). Last year, the first-place team brought home more than $600,000 for a 467-pound Black Marlin.

This year, pre-registration and registration occur from October 13th – 14th, the event happens on October 15th – 17th, and the awards celebration is held on October 18th. 5. Bisbee’s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament

Bisbee’s Black and Blue Marlin Tournament has been one of the most iconic fishing tournaments in Los Cabos for more than 35 years. As the name suggests, this event focuses on catching Striped, Blue, and Black Marlin and offers some of the biggest prizes in outdoor sports.

The base entry for this event is $5,000 per fishing team, and after all the daily jackpots, the maximum entry fee can tally up to $131,500 per team. However, you can expect extremely high payouts at this event because of the high entry fees. There was a payout of nearly $4,000,000 to a single team in 2006 — one of the largest payouts in sportfishing history. Last year, 147 teams and more than 1,200 anglers participated in this tournament for a total payout of $6,847,200.

6. Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot

The Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot is the final tournament of the year in Los Cabos. In 2024, there was a total payout of $1.3 million, so there is plenty of cash to bring home from this competitive fishing tournament!

Of course, the biggest catch in this competition is Tuna, but other gamefish, like Wahoo and Dorado, can result in sizable prizes. Unlike other tournaments, the Los Cabos Tuna Jackpot allows up to two guests to accompany the fishing team. This year, registration is on November 5th, the fishing event lasts from November 6th – 7th, and prizes are awarded on November 8th.

7. Marlin Global Challenge

Looking for a lucrative Blue Marlin fishing tournament? Consider entering the Marlin Global Challenge — a brand-new fishing showdown being hosted by Spot Zero in 2025. During this event, teams from across the world can attempt to catch the biggest Blue Marlin of the year, with one team claiming 85% of all entry jackpot fees, with a guaranteed minimum payout of $100,000.

The Marlin Global Challenge is a little bit different than traditional fishing tournaments. After registering and paying the entry fee of $2,000, teams will have the entire blue marlin season to land the winning fish, and can participate in any recognized tournaments (like the ones listed above in Cabo San Lucas!) that include a weigh station and spectators.
